NUTRITION & MILK
Whole grains here we come!
At Vine Street Child Care we work with local food suppliers to obtain the most nutritious and healthy ingredients when preparing fresh meals for your children. We abide by CACFP requirements ensuring appropriate minimum servings as well as a variety of foods and textures! We blend in whole wheat flour and avoid products containing high fructose corn syrup, and instead look for alternatives with less refined sweeteners.
Infants under two years of age are not served juice as a fruit substitute and baby food is made on-site.

Does milk matter? Absolutely!
Vine Street Child Care is proud to put our money where our mouth is and partner with Picket Fence Creamery, another owner-operated small business committed to doing the right thing! Picket Fence Creamery milk is 100% natural - produced without the use of artificial hormones. Their beautiful Jersey cows live outside in the grass pastures and drink fresh and clean Xenia Rural Water.
Picket Fence Creamery's milk is A2A2 certified, which means:
1. Easier Digestion: A2A2 milk contains only the A2 type of beta-casein protein, which is easier for children to digest compared to A1 beta-casein found in regular milk. This can potentially reduce digestive discomfort and issues like bloating or gas, making it gentler on your child’s stomach.
2. Fewer Digestive Complaints: Studies suggest that A2A2 milk might be less likely to cause symptoms such as tummy aches or discomfort in sensitive children, which can be particularly important if your child has shown signs of milk intolerance.
3. Potential for Reduced Symptoms: For children who have mild lactose sensitivity, A2A2 milk might provide a better option because it may not cause the same level of digestive upset as A1 milk. It’s not lactose-free, but some families find it a helpful alternative.
4. Natural and Pure: A2A2 milk is often marketed as being closer to natural milk, as it does not undergo genetic modification. For parents concerned about the purity and naturalness of their child's food, this is a comforting choice.
5. Overall Nutrition: A2A2 milk provides the same essential nutrients as regular milk, such as calcium, vitamin D, and protein, which are important for growing children. It supports their overall development and health just as effectively.
